The Bartlett Bank Robbery
That Wasn't

by C. F. Eckhardt

Back during the 'hippie era' of the '60s, a group of 'unwashed intellectuals' out of Austin decided to do their bit for the Age of Aquarius by robbing a bank. They planned very carefully, setting out getaway cars with false plates in various places, setting up safe houses where they could hide, the whole thing. They decided to rob the bank in Bartlett. Of course, they'd never been to Bartlett.

They descended on Bartlett in a couple of cars--only to discover that while there's a bank building in Bartlett, there's no bank in Bartlett. The bank in Bartlett closed on the federally-declared 'bank holiday' during the Depression--and never re-opened.
