LODGES IN TEXAS

Mostly modest, but occasionally grandiose, here are some of the meeting halls of Masons, Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias, Sons of Hermann, Protectors of Elks and Woodmen of the World.

Frequently lodge buildings were anchors of small town architecture. They served as schools, town halls and when needed - as shelters. While Masonic lodges were often stone and brick - the simple wooden buildings of the Czech and German organizations demonstrated the carpentry skills of the membership.
