- David Crockett Memorial Building
Dedicated
to the memory of David Crockett and situated in the center of a sixty-acre
city park, the David Crockett Memorial Building received additional
funds from the City of Crockett,
and the women's clubs, who used the building as their meeting place.
The balcony provided a public library and museum, sponsored by the
affiliated women's clubs. A plaque briefly outlines the life of David
Crockett: |

Member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, 1821-1823
United States Congressman from Tennessee
1827-1831 and 1833-1835
Arrived in Texas in January 1836
Died a hero in the Alamo
March 6, 1836

Only the plaque
remains. Nobody seems to know when or why the building was torn down.
The park is between 9th and 10th Streets, south of East Bowie Street
