History in a Pecan Shell

A Freedmen's Community that developed from Farmers Branch, Texas. Alpha's name is kept alive by the designation of Alpha Road. The community's first store opened in 1895. The population was given as 111 in 1904 but the last figures come from 1933 when it declined to a mere fifty residents.

In 1987, its last year as a listed community, it was still using 50 as the population.
