History
in a Pecan Shell
The town had a population large enough to support a
student body of 86 students in 1894.
The town stopped appearing on maps in the 1970s and the school had
been consolidated with the Waxahachie
ISD in the 1950s. Prior to that they had enjoyed a population of 80
(1947).
There are three other Buena Vistas listed in the Handbook of Texas
and all have either disappeared or have been absorbed into larger
communities. Further information can be gotten from the Ellis County
Historical Society in Waxahachie.
