County Jail
"Our New Jail is
to be built by Martin & Moodie* contractors,
and completed by October 1, 1903. It will be build of native sandstone,
will be three stories high, and will be one of the best structures
of the kind in Texas. The contract price is $27,000; it is to be fire
proof and heated with hot air. Has separate cells for women, men,
boys, misdemeanor criminals, felons, lunatics, etc., fine sewerage,
hospital room and modern conveniences."

Comanche
Public Library, established in 1960, offers many services from
a handsome comfortable building at 311 N. Austin Street, a block and
a half off the square. In 1974, the library dedicated its own building
designed by pre-eminent Texas architect O'Neil Ford of San Antonio.
The more than 20,000 volumes include selections for readers of all
ages along with public Internet access. The library's Special Collections
provide diverse Comanche and Texas and Southern States history and
