History
in a Pecan Shell
With the widespread usage of the word cool, one would
think that advertisers and promoters would be falling all over themselves
going to Cool, Texas for endorsements from Cool citizens.
The Handbook of Texas entry for Cool, is slight, mentioning
only the population and the date of incorporation.
The town was incorporated sometime after 1960 and by the end of that
decade it had 506 citizens. It dropped down to a mere 21 persons for
the 1970 census, which seems suspiciously low since the 1978 population
was back up to 253.
Perhaps the census enumerator’s file should be checked. |
