History in
a Pecan Shell
Sometimes known
as Dye Mound, the community was settled around 1880. A post
office was granted in 1884 and remained open until 1905. No population
figures are available for most of Dye’s history but it’s said that
until recently, the town never had more than 60 people living there.
The 2000 Census reported an all-time high of 200 residents.
Photographer's Note:
This is Dye, what there was of it. The old church is named Dye Mound
but all the maps have it as Dye. Not much there. Couldn't even find
the cemetery. - Barclay
