History in
a Pecan Shell
Mulberry
was named after the fruit trees found there and was established in
the early 1880s, although initial settlement had been over 30 years
before. A post office opened in 1886 but closed 20 years later. Mulberry
had a store, a church, two cotton gins, a blacksmith, and two gristmills.
Earlier estimates are not available, but during the Great Depression,
the population was estimated at 89 people. |
