History
on a Pinhead
Very little information is available about this Oakland (one of six
Texas communities with that name). There were enough residents to
form a school in the 1890s and by 1906 there were 21 students although
the first population figure for the town was a mere 20 in 1939. In
the mid 1960s all that remained was the cemetery and a single business.
The population in 1974 was 26 and that number has been used ever since.
