History on
a Pinhead
Settled in the
last quarter of the 19th the community had enough people to justify
a post office in 1892 – even though it only lasted about 20 years.
Life around Ola was quiet and from 72 residents in 1900 it dipped
to a mere 30 for the 1910 census. It reported 72 again from 1930 through
the mid 1960s when it fell again. From 1970 to 2000 the estimated
population has been 50. |
A Visit to
Ola
Photographer's
Note:
Not much here. One business, one church. Church Of Christ with an
apparent old and new building. One cemetery with a type of fencing
that I had never seen before with names in each section. - Mike
