History
in a Pecan Shell
Named for an existing body of water just east of the present site,
Poolville was founded in the early 1880s – with a post office opened
in 1883.
The population reached a high of about 500 residents for the 1920
census but the Great Depression took its toll. The 1950 census showed
350 people which declined to 230 for both 1980 and 1990. It has slowly
increased to 520 – right around the 1920 high-water mark. |
