History in
a Pecan Shell
The name was probably
after Holy Roman Emperor Frederick Barbarossa by German settlers who
arrived after the Civil War. A post office operated for a few months
under that name in 1900. In 1933 the population was a mere 30 persons
but by 1941 it had increased to 75.
Barbarosa Air Field was an auxiliary field during WWII. |
