Spanish to Go or Let's Went to Mexico

Como se dice, Fargo?

Spanish translations by Paul King
Fans of the motion picture "Fargo" know no borders. Although the Canadian border is a lot closer to Fargo, we're here in Texas and we just might want to cross "our" border and discuss Fargo with Mexican movie fans.

This issue's STG provides translations of 10 of the most memorable lines from the best effort to date of Los Hermanos Cohen. Texas Escapes' Paul King contributes his vast interpreting powers toward an international appreciation of film-noir.

"I thought we could take care of that here, in Brainerd, so, you know, that we would be in full compliance."
"Pense' que podriamos arreglar ese asunto aqui mismo, en Brainerd, para hacerlo - tu sabes - perfectamente legal."

"Whoa, Daddy!"
"Alto a ahi, Papasito!"

"Didya hear the one about the guy who couldn't afford personalized plates, so he had his name changed to BLR 618?" "Ja, that's a good one."
"Ya oiste el cuento del tipo ese que, como no tenia para pagar placas personalizadas, cambio' su nombre a BLR 618?" "Ja, ese si' que es bueno."

"I'm cooperating here, Ma'am."
"Mire Senora …. Lo estoy haciendo lo mejor que puedo."

"He was just funny lookin', even more than most people."
"Simplemente se vera medio raro, aun mas', inclusive, que la mayoria de la gente."

"Aw, Norm, you're getting' Arby's all over me."
"Ay Norm, Cuidado! me estas ensuciando toda de salsa Arby's."

"He's fleeing the interview!"
"Esta' huyendo de la entrevista!"

"I'm not going to debate you, Jerry!"
"No voy a debatirlo contigo, Jerry!"

"…And I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper."
"…y supongo que eso que estaba en el triturador de madera era tu complice."

"And for what? A little money. There's more to life than money you know."
"y, Para que? Un poco de dinero. La vida ofrece mas que dinero …`sabes?"
