History in
a Pecan Shell
Georgia
dates back to 1860 when it was known as Georgiaville and a
post office operated under that name until 1867. A school was started
in 1908, but was consolidated with a larger district, which was in
turn consolidated with another still larger district.
Georgia and a small cemetery still show up on the detailed county
maps published by the Texas Department of Transportation. There are
still homes in the area and a single church. |
