History
in a Pecan Shell
One of Upshur
County’s earliest communities. Red Rock started as a ferry crossing
sometime in the 1840s. In fact, several ferries were in operation
in the 1850s, but a larger operation at Walter’s Bluff made the Red
Rock ferry obsolete in the early to mid 1860s. Whatever developed
here has long since disappeared. Only the name remains on old records
and vintage maps. |
