History in
a Pecan Shell
Tallys
was a depot / post office community on the Sabine River and the Missouri
Pacific Railroad. The depot was built about 1884, and the post office
was in operation from 1905 to 1913.
Although no population figures are given in the Handbook of Texas,
they state that there was “a business and several scattered dwellings”
in the 1940s.
Tallys is not shown on current maps. |
