History in a Pecan Shell

No one is sure of the source of Wamba's name. The area was settled in the 1850s and a post office was briefly open from 1897 to 1916. There were 50 Wambians living there in 1910 - not too far from the current figure. The figure given for 1940 was forty and in 1982 the figure was recorded at 70 - a number the town evidently fells comfortable with, since it hasn't changed since.

Wamba was the site for one of Clyde Burns' water towers.
