ALL DRESSED UP

Notice how small he looks
there in the box
his hands folded
a rather quizzical look on his face
as if he never expected this
yet there he is
the giant of a man
who was so strong and hearty
towering above our youth
now made small by death
diminished in stature
his power degraded
compared to how he used to be
how weak he looks
just a shadow
no longer the father who knew so much
now just a small body in a suit
lying in a casket
all dressed up
with no place to go.
