Over
our heads, this giant sphere
this looming globe skyward appears
out of a cloud, it passes here
its passage pauses men to stare
We hear its breath, great gasps of air
as if it's weeping in despair
a prehistoric atmosphere
a sound uncommon to the ear
Such foreign sound makes us aware
a giant thing approaches near
suppose some living thing is there
its fiery blasts ignite our fear
All watch in wonder, it appears
to use the wind to somewhat steer
what wondrous thing rides only air
how we wish we too could dare
Caught up in currents, a sight so queer
it causes men to stop and stare
an orb, it floats so gently there
another moon, it does appear
We watch it go, yet cannot bear
to see it leave, to disappear
to distant lands, to who knows where
diminishing.... into thin air.
