THE DAILY NEWS

The newspaper has
my deepest affection,
I read through it all
its various sections

Sum of its parts
and parts of collections,
obituaries
cause sad introspection

Stories unfold
some stranger than fiction,
they yellow with age
soon change their complexion

I'm glad when it comes
it answers my questions,
but today's news becomes
yesterday's recollection.
