A
White Egret stares
into the muddy water
holding its pose
like a statue
on slender pins
it creeps
silently stalking its prey
without a ripple
it fishes
there next to the freeway
seemingly unbothered
by the rush of traffic
the great commotion of cars
like the commuters
staring straight ahead
it has only a single purpose
to get to work
it's all the same.
