FELLOW TRAVELER

let us walk
softly

without a sound
through the woods

no twig will snap
no stone will move

no one will know
we are there

except for the hawk
who sits high in the pine

as still as the tree itself
with keen eye

watching a fellow traveler
of these silent woods.
