What
is it that makes
a people decide
to commit the act
of genocide?
Where is conscience?
where is pride?
letting loose the
scourge
of homicide
Perhaps someday
we will arrive
and live where peace
and love
abide
Till then we must not
cower or hide
nor fall for
propaganda lies
For once stand up
at last this time
stop senseless acts
of brutal
crime
Stand arm in arm
for humankind
less we be next
for genocide.

The Armenian Genocide, the first genocide, occurred when
two million Armenians living in Turkey were eliminated from their
historic homeland through forced deportations and 1,500,000 massacres
and executions of the cruelest kind between 1913-1918. The Western
world was too involved with WW I to pay any attention to it, and
so the Turks continued the genocide. The Armenians were a three
thousand year old Christian nation conquered by the Ottoman Empire.
Turkey still denies it took place.
