Texas
ain't no
land of lakes
it's mostly dry
for pitys sake,
where water
should be
it's mostly mud
the creeks run only
when it floods
Our
land is one of
lizards, snakes
mosquitos, fleas
make it unsafe,
but
one thing that is
really great
them horny toads
are real not fake
The armadillo
prowls the plain
gets run over in
the passin' lane,
mean
alligators
swim the swamps
an' big ole bull frogs
give you bumps
Yet
Texas is
the promised land
goes on and on
cain't see no end,
and
one good thing
about it friend
if it wasn't real
have to pretend
For
Texas is
a state of mind
a yearning in
all hearts to find
a place
where
freedom never
died,
"Gone To Texas"
still applies.
