GRACKLE

See how the Grackle
walks upright
like a man
he walks
one foot
in front of the other
one measured step
at a time
unlike the sparrow
and the wren
who can only hop
the Grackle proudly proclaims
he is just as good
as you or I
a bird in menacing black
daring to come close
so close we can get
a glimpse of
his intelligence
defying us
with haughty eye
he challenges us
with obvious indifference

I am not afraid of you
man
do something about it.
