HOMAGE TO THE LOWLY WORM

by David Knape

Oh let us praise
the lowly worm
who underground
prowls terra firm

if not for worms
we have now learned
there'd be no dirt
on earth to turn

It is the worm
of rounded girth
who builds the soil
of Mother Earth

Worms in their way
spur all rebirth
so praise the worm
for all its worth.
