How Lonely The Men

by David Knape

How lonely the men who
live out their years,
outliving their spouses
outliving their peers

Remorse is a bucket
filled with their tears,
when houses grow empty
silence is feared

When culture and customs
once held dear,
go by the wayside
all disappear

How sad to have no one
to share common fears,
how lonely the men
left only with tears.
