I, Robot?

by David Knape
You've seen them
in the grocery store
the airport
the gas line
on the street, running

a wire coming out
of their head
a blank stare
out of their eyes

people looking
like robots
freak humanoids wired
to central command

as they negotiate
there way around
feeling secure
superior
tuned in, yet
the world tuned out

missing
the very thing they need
Reality without a screen

our machines have made us
more machine-like
our experience diluted
we have lost the human touch

I, Robot?
