When
in the woods one winter day
I saw things that would usually lie
behind a veil of verdant leaves
hidden
from all passersby
trees lose their summer clothes and then
they
are exposed with branches bare
and one
can see to kingdom come
remarkable what now is there
the woods before
were thick with brush
and blocked from sight were hidden views
in stubbornness I always pushed
it was a struggle going through
sheltered from
exploring eyes
a new perspective lies in store
uncovered
in the season's change
are places that it held before
in winter woods
there is regret
its secrets can no more be kept
we now at last can finally see
the sights it held in mystery
into the woods
then, step by step
the way is clear for me to go
these woods will change again I know
yet charm remains there, ever so.
