It
ain't Texas
any more
filled up with malls
and walmart stores,
I wish it was
like it was before
who could have known
what was in store
There was a time
Texas was grand
t'was wide open
end to end,
then women were women
and men were men
and there weren't no fence
could fence 'em in
When grass and trees
filled open space
when life was at
a slower pace,
folks took their time
met face to face
and there weren't no rush
to get someplace
Now it's all gone
the landscape scarred
home on the range
filled up with cars,
and if buffalo roamed
they wouldn't get too far
hell, it ain't Texas
any more.
