Leave Well Enough Alone

by David Knape

How many times
have we gotten that message
that such & such is changing
and the old format will be gone

just when we have gotten used
to something
and know how to maneuver through it
they change it

but it is really not an improvement
it's just a different way
of doing the same thing

it only gives someone
an excuse for a job
or a reason for existence

we liked the old way
there was no reason to change
but here comes
new and improved

now we have to re-learn
what was automatic

the problem is the computer
is smarter and faster than we are
we cannot keep up

we liked the way it was
and felt comfortable with it
all these computer geniuses
have not heard of Common Sense

and the beauty of that basic rule
Leave Well Enough Alone.
