I
miss my dog
I miss the feel of his fur
the warmth of his body
the wag of his tail
his slobbery smile
I miss that dog
he was as close to me
as anyone could be
he never wavered in
his love
I miss my dog
who sat with me
through good times and bad
who gave me comfort
when no one else would
or could
I miss that dog
who filled the empty spaces
of my life
who went away suddenly
and took with him
a part of me
I'll never get back
that dog taught me love
and caring
dogs deserve heaven
more than people do.
