dry ground
sighs a pitiful sound sends a mournful wail up from its bowels great
open holes where the dirt was now separated into cracks that look like
open sores how the ground looks sad cooked daily in 100 degrees
have we known its thirst where lips cracked now the ground cracks
how it must hurt to have such open sores be so thirsty
dried out
can't heal up or seal up because the clouds pass by - with just
a wink and no promise the ground suffers swelters burned up browned
out dead
down below it's wondering when it will get a drink
again down deep it can't cry anymore its tears have all dried
up.
