There
is a field here
on one of the main roads
that was left alone and not developed
it's For Sale
but the weathered sign now leans
for lack of interest
the field in its neglect
is now home to a beautiful patch
of Texas Bluebonnets
that looks like a lake of pure blue water
people come from all over
in the coolness of Springtime
to tromp
among these glorious Bluebonnets
and take their family photos
just like in the old days
kids and pets and families gather
to honor that old Texas tradition
of taking photos sitting among
the state flowers in their wonderful display
visitors almost disappear
as the flowers overwhelm them
lost in the happiness of the moment
there is just a certain joy
in being in a field of flowers
absorbing their beauty
so simple pleasures still exist
and people still enjoy
witnessing the miracle of Bluebonnets
springing forth beside a busy road
who would think in this day and age
of computers and video games
people would still find sustenance
in the beauty of a simple flower
in seeing a patch of Bluebonnets
coming out in Spring.
