STAYING THE SAME

As we age
we all complain
we wish that things
would stay the same

We hurl our oaths
assign the blame,
our past seems golden
the future pained

The world must have
ongoing change,
we don't know why
hard to explain

If only we
could just exchange
progress for things
staying the same.
