The Old KJT Hall

by David Knape

Let me go back to Ammannsville
to breath a country breeze,
I'll stand beneath the cottonwoods
listen to their fluttering leaves

For in their shade I can recall
with fondest memory,
all our kin who gathered here
at this old KJT

This hall holds echos of the past
that still come back to me,
of food and fun and everyone
enjoying family

Their voices still reverberate
within these hollowed walls,
and if I close my eyes real tight
I see them one and all

Dancing to polkas as they play
as loud as they can be,
with corresponding conversation
in ascending symphony

This hall is more than roof and doors
it's treasure is to me,
the place where I can come to be
among my memories

And if I could I'd call them back
just one more time to see,
the pleasure of their company
in this old KJT.
