It's
best to rise in early morn
that time before the day is born
so close upon the break of dawn
to catch the day as it still yawns
For that brief time the day is yours
'fore lights come on and neighbors stir
the day lies quiet and obscure
till it begins to slowly whir
A morning cup of coffee lends
its warmth bestowed as day begins
the earth emits a restful sigh
a bashful sun begins to rise
Bringing the day with knowing wink
its rising gives us pause to think
that in these wee beginning hours
the world was ever briefly ours.
