Try
to remember simpler times. Back when supermarkets rarely had more
than ten aisles and checkout clerks had arms like stevedores from
manually pulling groceries past the register with a sliding wooden
frame. Soft drinks weren't yet a food group thenand people would've
laughed at the thought of paying for water. So sip your diet cherry
vanilla Dr Pepper (a real product by the way) and try to think back
to simpler times. It's hard, but maybe these photos will help...

Sometime in the Fall of 1962, the students of Edison Elementary School,
located at 501 E. Gypsy Street were given a tour of the plant. "We"
walked to the plant through neighborhood streets. At that time, the
plant was located on or around 600 E. Broadway. The large circular
window was an unusual, and memorable landmark. During the tour, we
observed part of the bottling operation, if my recall is correct,
the plant also bottled the "Barqs" brand of flavored sodas. Each student
enjoyed a free bottle of soda of their choice.
Just memories that I wanted to share of a time that long past. - Rob,
