History on
a Pinhead
Few
facts are available concerning Earle, Texas. Alongside the rails of
the San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf Railroad, it was prosperous enough
to have a doctor, blacksmith and butcher in the 1890s, and a post
office was open from 1887 through 1904. The town was dropped from
maps in the 1930s.
Photographer's Note
"The communities of Earle and Cassin both lie along Pleasanton
Road in southern Bexar
County. I didn't see any old town buildings, just scattered houses
and ranches in the area." - Terry
