History in a Pecan Shell

Live Oak has no 19th Century history. It began life in 1960 when the town was developed and the first population figures come from the 1970 census when 2,779 residents were reported. In 1990 the city had 10,023 residents which declined to 9,156 for the year 2000, but rose to 13,131 in 2010.

Photographer's Note:
Live Oak is where I grew up. There really is no old buildings as such.....but all the places I went bike riding, etc are GONE. In fact, everything I remember as a kid has vanished to make room for more houses. - Stephen Michaels, January 2008
