History in a Pecan Shell

A town named Mamie appeared here in 1904 as a stop on the St. Louis, Brownsville and Mexico Railway. Mamie’s history (if there was any) doesn’t seem to have been recorded. Fast-forward to 1978 when the tiny community of Palmview was incorporated. The 220 residents had grown to 1,818 by 1990, more than doubling to 4,107 for the 2000 census.
