History in
a Pecan Shell
Settled near Poesta
Creek, the community was initially known as Hatchers in
the 1890s. A one teacher school opened in the 1890s, with less than
twenty students, increasing to 23 by 1906.
In 1915 a new school was constructed.
Chase Field Naval Auxiliary Air Station was built in 1943 and forced
residents to move. Today scattered residences between Beeville
and the air station could be thought of as a community although the
proximity to Beeville prevents
any businesses or town center. |
