History in
a Pecan Shell
Information on
this small community is hard to come by. It opened a post office in
1880 that stayed open about three years, opening a second in 1907,
the latter being called Sarco Creek. This one held on through
1923.
TxDoT shows the town as nothing more than a rural cemetery on the
Goliad County map,
although the population has been estimated at 78 (2000).
Photographer's Note:
Sarco, Texas is a ranching community in mid-southern Goliad
County on FM 2441. About 10 miles south of Goliad
and about 18 miles NW of Refugio
& just up the road from Blanconia, TX.
