State National
Bank Building
Corsicana's
"Eight-story Skyscraper"
C.D. Hill and Co., Architects in association with H.O. Blanding
This handsome building is one of the most colorful of its type due
to the extensive use of terra-cotta. Only two facades are faced, however,
in anticipation of neighboring buildings that never materialized.
The overall look is similar to the Petroleum Building fraternity of
buildings in Midland, Big Spring, and the beautiful white Gothic Norwood
building in Austin.
Although it is only 8 stories tall, it's imposing elegance and dominance
of the Corsicana
skyline make it worthy of the name skyscraper. Viewed in the glow
of the setting sun, the building sometimes looks like a wedding cake
with a buttery icing.
