note: Judy Seago Willett is a direct descendant of the
town founder of Seagoville.
In a recent email she shared a few memories of visits back to Texas:
"... Every trip we made back to the Panhandle,
it seemed that I'd find a stray dog to love and play with, and twice
we brought dogs back to California. One, we named Shamrock (1955),
and the other was a Chihuahua (1962).
We were driving back to Lela
from Shamrock and saw what appeared to be a brown paper bag in the
middle of the road. My uncle Valdee slowed down and it was a little
Chihuahua running as fast as it could! We pulled over and he jumped
in without hesitation. We became instant friends. We inquired in town
for anyone who'd lost a dog, and no one had, so I was allowed to keep
him and we took him back to California.
Well. . . that dog was a traveler and every chance he got he would
escape out a door. Finally one day he ran off and never came back.
We loved that little guy. . . and we always wondered how many people
that dog lived with! " -
