History in
a Pecan Shell
The community was
born with the establishment of the Goose Creek Oilfield. It peaked
in the mid 1930s with a population estimated at nearly 550 residents.
Although it had been incorporated, it lost its separate status when
it was absorbed into the Morrell Park subdivision (around 1940).
Maps dating to the 1930s show homes and a school located along the
railroad. In 1948, the former community joined Pelly,
Goose Creek and older Baytown
to become the newly formed greater Baytown. |
