History
in a Pecan Shell
The town that never was – but could’ve been.
The name Hezekiah Williams is the most important in Hays City history.
It’s also the only name in Hays City history. Williams was a town
builder and he developed his property around 1908 with the intention
of “stealing” the county seat status of San
Marcos. While Williams tried hard to lure settlers by building
a hotel, store, lumberyard and church, he lured no one away from San
Marcos or for that matter, Kyle
either. Hays City continues to be shown (barely) on the Hays County
map. |
