I
was surprised but happy to find a site about Star,
Texas. My fathers’ family is from there and my father and grandparents
and probably great grandparent are buried there. My aunt recently
contacted me and sent me some old photos of my families connection
to Star, here they are. |

I
think my Aunt Annette still lives there. My families’ last name is
Hurst and is also related to the Hamilton’s. My granddad was “Slim”
Hurst married to Lucille who was a Hamilton. My dad’s name was Thomas
Ed Hurst, and my aunts are Annette and Lula Mae. |

My
father was in the military and was shipped to Europe where he met
and wed my French mother. My brother and I were born in France and
our parents eventually moved back to the United States. What an unusual
place Texas seemed to be to my French speaking mother and what an
odd place to learn to speak English…I mean y’all speak a little different
than those of us living a bit north of you. |

I
was only in Star when we came from Colorado to visit my grandparents
and aunts when I was very young, and only again after my father died
to visit his gravesite. I would love to know if anyone has memories
about my dad or my grandparents they could share. - Thanks, Nancy
