History in
a Pecan Shell
Named for C. R.
Brice, a former county attorney.
The town was platted on property belonging George Dickson (who donated
church and school land) and a man named Horn who opened the town's
first store.
The post office was first opened in Briscoe
County in 1899 and was moved to Brice in 1903. It finally closed
in 1954.
Brice, which was once divided into North and South Brice reached it's
peak sometime before the Great Depression. The larger part (North
Brice) was two miles from South Brice.
It had at one time a brick schoolhouse for eleven grades with a faculty
of five but a school consolidation in 1952 closed the one at Brice.
